Therefore, if a large LED display screen is used, its overall power consumption is very large. Then what can we do to reduce the power consumption of LED display screen.
- Use automatic brightness adjustment to reduce the power consumption of LED display.
This is a low-cost method that has been widely used. It only needs to add a brightness sensor to the LED display and design a control module to automatically adjust the brightness of the LED display according to the brightness collected by the brightness sensor. This can not only ensure the normal use of the LED display, but also reduce the brightness when the ambient brightness is low and reduce the power consumption of the display.
- Use low voltage power supply.
5V has always been the standard power supply used for LED display. However, after years of development and research, we found that a voltage of 4.5V or 4.6V can make the LED display work normally. The current remains unchanged, and the voltage drops from 5V to 4,5v, thus reducing the overall power consumption of LED display by 10%.
- Modify the LED module design to provide different voltages for R/G/B lamp .
Most of the current circuit designs of the modules use the same voltage for R / g / B, but the voltage required for R is actually lower. Therefore, the overall power consumption can be reduced by using different voltages for the IC not used by R / G / B. However, the overall energy saving of this design is not very large, and the cost of LED display screen will rise greatly, so it is not widely accepted by the market.
- Use large-size bright LED lamp
This is a way to reduce the power consumption of LED display from the root. In order to reduce the cost of the LED display screen, many manufacturers use smaller LED lamp beads, which reduces the brightness of a single LED lamp bead. In order to ensure the overall brightness of the LED display screen, it is necessary to increase the number of driving ICs. Therefore, we can see that the scanning methods of the indoor display screen can be 1/32 scan, 1/16 scan and 1/8 scan, but the outdoor display screen usually adopts a design higher than 1/4 scans, The luminance requirement is satisfied by increasing the number of drive ICs. According to the brightness of the existing LED lamp beads, it is difficult to reduce the number of driving ICs for outdoor displays, but the power consumption of each driving IC can be reduced. It is agreed that the overall power consumption can be reduced. For the indoor display screen, if you can change 1/8 scans to 1/16 scans, or 1/16 scans to 1/32 scans, the overall power consumption of the LED display screen will be reduced by half. In this way, even though the cost of the LED display screen will rise to a certain extent, considering the long-term power consumption cost, the total cost of this scheme is reduced.
