LED display screen is an electronic product, and heating is a normal phenomenon in the process of use.
Small area led display screens, such as signboards, door screens and small publicity window screens, have limited area, limited power and limited heating. Generally, we don’t need to consider heat dissipation. However, for large-area indoor LED display and outdoor large display, due to the huge accumulation of heat, we often have to consider the problem of heat dissipation.
So what are the situations we should consider?
1、 Power and area
Generally, the power of LED display screen is less than 10 square meters, which is the primary factor to be considered. Generally, the power conversion of LED display screen is not within 10 square meters. The outdoor LED display is much more strict. Firstly, the power and heating capacity of the outdoor LED display are much larger than that of the indoor LED display with the same area. Generally, the heat dissipation can not be considered if it is below 5kW. When the area is generally less than 5m2, the heat dissipation can not be considered for the outdoor LED display.
2、 Direct sunlight
Indoor LED display generally does not involve direct sunlight. Outdoor LED large screen is mostly used to play advertisements, government propaganda films, public service advertisements, etc. the temperature will rise to very high under direct sunlight for a long time, especially in summer. The surface temperature of outdoor LED large screen can easily rise to more than 100 ℃, and the temperature will rise even higher if the internal structure of the screen is not treated with heat dissipation and the air is not circulated. Therefore, as long as there is direct sunlight, we will generally make a heat dissipation structure.
3、 Space size of screen body (rear)
In general, the front (front) of the LED display screen is the playing surface, with open heat dissipation space, while the internal (rear) situation is very different. If the interior (rear) of the LED display screen is a conventional narrow and limited space, we decide whether to make the heat dissipation structure according to the first two factors. But there are also some with large rear space and good ventilation conditions. We don’t need to make a heat dissipation structure.
Based on the above three factors, what should we do when the evaluation results need to add heat sink? The following three points are the methods we often use.
1、 Add fan
The fan is most commonly used in the waterproof box of outdoor LED large screen. The thickness of the box is generally about 10 cm, that is, the space inside (behind) the screen is very narrow. We generally use the fan to build the circulating ventilation system. The common practice is to add two fans in the upper part of the back door of the waterproof box, one fan blowing in and one fan blowing out, The hot air inside the box is mainly in the upper half, which forms a circulating ventilation system in which the cool air from the outside goes in and the hot air from the inside blows out.
Similar ideas are also used in the outdoor large screen project of simple box. We leave a style grid at the lower part of the whole large screen, and use four 500W high-power fans to blow hot air outward at the top of the large screen, so as to form a circulating heat dissipation channel in which the external cool air enters from bottom to inside, the hot air automatically flows upward, and the hot air at the top blows out.
2、 Add air conditioning.
In the outdoor large screen project, we often use air conditioning to cool the LED display. In the project of outdoor LED large display screen with an area of more than 20 square meters, we will calculate the number of air conditioners according to the area. The inner unit of the air conditioner outputs cold air to cool the screen, and the outer unit of the air conditioner is installed on the side or rear of the screen.
Generally, when we use the air conditioner, we will also use the fan at the same time. Add the fan at the bottom and top (or up and down on the side) to build the circulating ventilation channel.
3、 Expand the space behind the screen
Expand the space behind the screen. This method is applicable to indoor LED display. When welding the steel structure of LED display, you can communicate with customers to expand the space behind the screen, such as leaving a maintenance channel with a width of 60 cm or more than 80 cm. In this case, the space behind the screen is large enough. With the addition of fans, the heat generated by the screen can be easily dissipated.
